Naruto Episode 78-79

Asuma’s fire jutsu strikes Hidan, but much to the team’s suprise, Asuma is also burned. Hidan reveals his ability: By injesting an opponent’s blood and standing in a ritual circle drawn with blood, the “curse” links him to his opponent and all damage inflicted on him is also inflicted on the opponent. Asuma rushes at Hidan but collapses after Hidan stabs himself in the leg. Shikamaru realizes Hidan needs to be in the circle for the curse to take effect, and uses his shadow jutsu to force Hidan to step out of it. Asuma forces himself to stand up and beheads the restrained Hidan.

Hidan’s immortality enables him to stay alive even with his head cut off, although he cannot move his body. Kakuzu sews Hidan’s head back on with threads that sprout from his body. Izumo and Kotetsu try to attack Kakuzu, but he manages to grab them by using his body threads. Hidan, now able to move again, returns to the circle and stabs himself with the blades of his scythe; he finishes it off by stabbing himself in the chest with another spike, mortally wounding Asuma.

Amagai uses the power of the bakkoutou to dangerous levels in order to further increase his strength, but after unleashing a powerful blow on Ichigo, he manages to take control of himself. After learning that Ichigo still does not want to back down for Rurichiyo’s sake, Amagai decides to fight him on his own power. Finally, Amagai and Ichigo each deal out a final blow at each other, but Amagai loses and his bankai reverts to the zanpakut?’s original form. Unwilling to admit defeat, Amagai stabs Yamamoto, but the latter is unharmed. Yoruichi and the other captains arrive to explain that Amagai’s father, Kisaragi, was actually helping Yamamoto to investigate the Kasumioji household but was captured and made an unwilling pawn by Kumoi with the power of the bakkoutou. In order to save Kisaragi, Yamamoto had no choice but to kill him. Upon learning this, Amagai finally relents and makes peace with Yamamoto; however, he decides to account for his previous wrongdoings and seemingly kills himself with his zanpakut?, igniting himself in a funeral pyre. Before igniting himself, he apologizes to Kira and bids him farewell. Later, Rurichiyo and Shuu thank Ichigo and his friends for the help they provided, with Lurichiyo taking up the role of head of the household. At the end of the episode you see his zanpakut? and captain’s suit, which shows that he might still be alive somewhere.

Oz recovers from Nightmare Luffy’s attack. However, the Strawhats all get back on their feet, from Luffy to Brook, and launch a final devastating attack on Oz, which ends with Luffy smashing a Gigant Bazooka into Oz’s face from above, breaking his spine and finally defeating the demon. Moria, however, gets out of Oz’s stomach moments later, and prepares himself for his ultimate technique, Shadows Asgard. By sucking up all of the shadows of all of the zombies on Thriller Bark, totaling one thousand shadows, Moria becomes a grotesque monster, as big as Oz in size with short spindly legs, gigantic arms, and a huge bloated neck pulsating with veins.

Zoro is defeated, and Nami and Usopp are saved by Luffy. Nightmare Luffy then fights Oz. At the end of the episode, all the shadows get out of Luffy and Moria and Oz suffer severe damage.

Naruto Shippuden Episode 76

Kakashi reveals that while he knows how to perform Rasengan, he cannot combine his own lightning-based chakra. He adds that even the Fourth Hokage, who created the move, could not combine his wind-based chakra with the technique, but that Naruto might be able to. Asuma sends word to other teams about Akatsuki’s location and proceeds on despite his concern about Akatsuki’s strength. Kakuzu turns in Chiriku’s corpse despite Hidan’s complaints, and says that he is partnered with Hidan because he cannot kill him. The stress of the training begins to bring out the Nine-Tailed Fox, but Yamato suppresses it.

Asuma’s team reaches the bounty station and ambushes Hidan. Izumo and Kotetsu attack Hidan, but are unable to kill him despite hitting vital organs. Asuma tells his teammates that if they retreat they will be killed and Konoha will be endangered. Shikamaru realizes that Asuma is considering sacrificing himself to help defeat the enemy, based on what he knows of Asuma’s shogi strategy. Asuma begins fighting Hidan while Shikamaru occupies him by forcing him to dodge Shadow Sewing. Hidan cuts Asuma on the cheek, and steps into a circle of blood and transforms just as Asuma uses a jutsu to fire a cloud of burning ash at him.

Moria explains that he enabled Oz to stretch by stretching his shadow, thereby forcing his body to stretch along with it in order to ensure that the body and shadow are the same shape. Usopp fires Brook out of Kuwagata, with Robin making him spin and Nami electrifying him, but he only does minor damage to Oz and is knocked out when Oz retaliates. Robin attempts to use her powers on Moria, but he attacks her with his shadow and then switches places with it, rendering her attack useless. He then takes her shadow, rendering her unconscious. Chopper discovered that Oz died of frostbite, and that while he does not feel any pain, he can still take damage from their attacks. Sanji and Chopper launch a combo attack on Oz, who then knocks out both of them with Gomu Gomu no Gatling, leaving only Nami, Zoro and Usopp standing.

With Moria’s guidance, Oz is better able to counter the Straw Hats’ strategies and turn their attacks against them. Franky is knocked unconscious after a failed attempt to fire himself at Oz with a giant slingshot known as Kuwagata and shoot him at point-blank range with Weapons Left. Nami arrives and joins the battle, but Oz demonstrates that he can somehow stretch his limbs, which the crew realizes is Moria’s doing. Elsewhere, Luffy meets up with the Rolling Pirates, whose shadows have been stolen by Moria. They plant shadows into him in order to multiply his fighting strength and grant him new skills so that he can defeat Moria.

Ichigo begins fighting Amagai, whose bakkoutou’s ability to suppress zanpakutou powers initially limits his strength. Even with his bankai and hollow mask, Ichigo initially struggles against Amagai’s bankai abilities, but eventually manages to get through his defenses, badly wounding Amagai with a getsuga tenshou. Amagai, however, is willing to die to achieve his revenge, and calls upon his bakkoutou’s power in order to kill Lurichiyo, Yamamoto and Ichigo.

Amagai faces down Yamamoto at his office. The mastermind of the events that plagued the Kasumi?ji household was his doing. Kenryu and Enryu manage to save Lurichiyo and try to subdue Amagai, but he is too strong for them. Yamamoto demands to know why Amagai wants to do this, and the latter tells him it is all for revenge. He reveals that Yamamoto killed Amagai’s father, Kisaragi Shin’etsu, as he knew about the knowledge of the bakkoutou, and Yamamoto’s involvement with the Kasumi?ji clan to secretly allow them to create bakkoutou. In order to take his revenge, he joined the Soul Reapers and rose through the ranks, waiting for his time to strike, which is now. Yamamoto unleashes his shikai against him. However Amagai uses the collected bakkoutou “eyes” to feed his own tuning fork weapon, which is revealed to also be a bakkoutou, albeit stronger. Using the bakkoutou, Amagai seals Yamamoto’s spiritual powers, and then unleashes his bankai, Raika Gouenkaku, against him. The fight continues until Ichigo arrives to stop Amagai. As Amagai used Lurichiyo’s household to complete his plans, Ichigo does not care if Amagai’s vendetta is right or not, he has to stop him right here.
