In order to save Kisaragi, Yamamoto had no choice but to kill him. Upon learning this, Amagai finally relents and makes peace with Yamamoto; however, he decides to account for his previous wrongdoings and seemingly kills himself with his zanpakut?, igniting himself in a funeral pyre. Before igniting himself, he apologizes to Kira and bids him farewell.
